LG reveals new hi-tech dry cleaning machine

The Styler uses combination of steam and vibrating hangers to clean clothes at home looks like a cupboard and have a built in trouser press to keep creases clean in 30 minutes.

LG says its new Styler system can wrinkles and removes odours without detergents or other harsh chemicals - and without having to send them to a cleaner. It hopes hotels, airport lounges and the wealthy will install the $2,000 gadget.

How It Works:

Inside the closet, hot steam fills the space to begin the de-wrinkling and deodorizing processes. The hangers then gently shake back and forth to remove wrinkles, followed by the release of your preferred aroma to get your clothes smelling fresh. For pants, there's a separate press area that will keep creases crisp.

It is fitted with LG's Clothes Care System, designed to refresh clothes without water or detergents using its TrueSteam technology. This consists of hot steam spray technology, which LG uses in washers and dryers, and is said to get rid of 99.9 per cent of the germs and bacteria.

'The busier our lives become, the more difficult it is to take proper care of our wardrobe,' said Dave VanderWaal, head of marketing for LG Electronics USA. 'Professional cleaning services are not only costly, but they can also harm your clothes over time.

'The LG Styler is a great complement to such services and helps consumers take greater control over their wardrobe, keeping coats, sweaters, blouses and other delicates looking and feeling their best.' It first unveiled the gadget at New York Fashion Week.

'LG shares the fashion industry's vision that when consumers look their best, they feel their best, which made Fashion Week the perfect time to introduce LG Styler to the U.S. market,' says David VanderWaal, vice president of marketing for LG Electronics USA.

Tests carried out by Intertek found the LG Styler also eliminates approximately 92 per cent of Perchloroethylene - a chemical left on clothes after dry cleaning.

A Quick Refresh button keeps clothes smelling fresh, while Moving Hanger Action gently shakes steamed items to remove everyday wrinkles.

There is also an Easy Pants Crease Care feature, which refreshes and irons trousers with a 'perfect crease' in half an hour.

The LG Styler additionally features a built-in heat pump.
This generates and maintains warm air at a low temperature to keep clothing from shrinking or being damaged while drying.

Plus, the Odor Removal feature uses steam to help remove smells left behind by smoke, food and sweat, and depending on individual tastes, users can choose between two different aroma sheets.

The 2015 Styler is also able to communicate with others through Smart Diagnosi and NFC Tag-On.
Smart Diagnosis alerts users via their smartphones when the unit requires maintenance or repair. With Tag-On, owners can install a free app and download customized cycles specific to a garment type and program the Styler with a simple tap of their phones.

'At LG, we understand that busy people need creative solutions,' said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Home Appliance & Air Solution Company.

'The Styler is a new category of appliance that was developed to directly address the needs of customers who desired an option for garment care for hard-to-maintain clothes. The Styler is a perfect example of what we mean by 'innovation for a better life'.'
