Chines Tech Giant Xiaomi unveils fitness tracker costs just $15

Xiaomi was founded in 2010 by serial entrepreneur Lei Jun, who believes that high-quality technology doesn't need to cost a fortune. At Xiaomi, we've brought together smart people from Google, Kingsoft, Microsoft, Motorola, Yahoo, and other Internet and tech companies from around the world to bring that vision to life.

With more than 18 million handsets sold in China in 2013 and products launched in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, India and Indonesia, Xiaomi is ready to go global. Xiaomi sure knows how to make affordable products that punch above their price. Whether it’s an Android-powered TV, flagship smartphone or a fitness tracker.

Smartwatch Pebble Time Review

This is the third of Pebble’s smartwatch designs. First we got the plastic Pebble: highly recognisable, a bit toy-like, pretty geeky. Then the Pebble Steel came along and classed everything up with an all-steel design that made it among the most attractive smartwatches around.

The Pebble Time doesn’t start where the Pebble Steel left off. Instead, it has a plainer look. A pretty anonymous square with big old bits of screen surround, it doesn’t take smartwatch design on in leaps and bounds.

LG Watch Urbane review:

Crisp, classic design; fully round, beautiful OLED display; latest Android Wear support; Wi-Fi antenna connects to phone across different Wi-Fi networks; decent battery life (for Android Wear).

Big design won't appeal to many wrists; Android Wear software still doesn't feel all that smooth to use; Wi-Fi connectivity spotty at times; watch is expensive compared to other Android Wear options.

The LG Watch Urbane is the best-looking Android Wear smartwatch and adds Wi-Fi-to-phone connectivity, but it doesn't offer all that much more than previous Android Wear watch models.

China imposes army ban using smartwatch and wearable

According to a BBC latest report, China has forbidden its armed forces from wearing internet-connected wearable tech, according to reports.

The People's Liberation Army Daily, the Chinese military's official newspaper, said security concerns had been raised after one recruit had received a smartwatch as a birthday gift.

News site NBC said its sources had confirmed a ban was now in place. One expert said the move was a natural extension of restrictions already placed by most armies on mobile phones.

Acer Liquid Leap wearables: Liquid Fit, Liquid Curve and Liquid Active

Acer has announced three new wearable devices to the Liquid Leap range. The firm unveiled the Liquid Leap Fit, Liquid Leap Curve and Liquid Leap Active along a host of other products including laptops, tablets and smartphones.

Acer is so serious about the wearable market with not one, not two, but three new devices unveiled.  For starters, the Liquid Leap Fit is a new fitness tracker which will take on the likes of FitBit and Jawbone.

It has a one inch touchscreen much like previous Leap devices but adds sensors like an optical heart rate monitor and a stress sensor with gold-plated pads which will supposedly let you know just how stressed you really are. The Leap Fit can be changed between different wrist bands depending on what you're doing and where you're going.
